ShelterSync SMS Messaging Terms
Last updated: June 2026
ShelterSync (a Zoolytix product) sends SMS text messages to support account security. This page is the proof of consent for our SMS program: it shows exactly how a user opts in, what messages we send, and how to opt out.
How users opt in to ShelterSync SMS
SMS is an optional account-security feature of ShelterSync, operated by Zoolytix Inc. A signed-in user opts in themselves — no one is enrolled automatically, and agreeing to receive SMS is never required to create an account, sign in, or use ShelterSync. Authenticator-app (TOTP) and email codes are available as alternatives.
To opt in, the user:
- Signs in to the ShelterSync admin web app.
- Opens Profile & security.
- Under Security → "SMS as MFA fallback", checks the consent box agreeing to these terms (the Enable SMS button is disabled until the box is checked), selects Enable SMS, and confirms a code sent to the phone number on their profile.
The consent checkbox states explicitly that SMS is optional, that message & data rates may apply, and that the user can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Each acknowledgement is timestamped and recorded in the account's security event log, so consent is provable. The SMS Opt-In Experience page shows the live consent screen in full, including the verbatim consent language and the Privacy Policy and SMS Terms links presented at the moment of consent. The screenshot below shows the opt-in control and consent language exactly as presented in the ShelterSync app:

What messages we send
ShelterSync sends account-related, transactional messages only:
- One-time verification codes used to confirm your identity when you sign in.
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes when you have enabled SMS as a verification method.
We do not send marketing or promotional text messages through this program.
Message frequency
Message frequency depends on your activity — you receive a code when you sign in or when a verification step requires one. There is no recurring or scheduled messaging.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. ShelterSync does not charge for SMS messages.
Opting out (STOP) and help (HELP)
- Reply STOP to any ShelterSync message to opt out of SMS messages at any time. After you opt out, we will stop sending SMS codes to that number.
- Reply HELP to any ShelterSync message to receive help information.
If you opt out, you can still secure your account using an authenticator app (TOTP). To resume SMS verification, re-enable SMS in Profile & security.
Supported carriers
ShelterSync SMS works across major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
Your mobile number and the information associated with these messages are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your mobile information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
